Description

The design of a model that is faithful to the business domain it represents is the key to success for large-scale computing projects. The research, expression, and use of this model will lead the development team, business analysts, and experts to use a common language that will remove barriers to communication and promote software design that will meet user requirements. The modeling skills as well as the judicious use of practices such as design patterns, refactoring, and test-driven development (or TDD) accelerate the transformation of specifications into functional software while providing a pragmatic framework for development activities.

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to apply the principles of domain-driven design (or DDD) design in a pragmatic manner in order to maintain a fine balance between modeling activities and the development of commercially viable computerized solutions.

Objectives

The primary goal of this workshop is to master, through practice, the fundamental concepts of domain-driven software design. Once the concepts have been presented, participants will be able to discuss them or complete a technical exercise (depending on what is most appropriate) in order to better assimilate them. Discussions allow to highlight the benefits and disadvantages of the proposed ideas whereas the exercises allow for the application of the method's techniques.

Participants will also be able to:

This two-day workshop can be adapted to better meet the participant needs and knowledge level. It is a combined lecture and interactive course where participants will have the opportunity to discuss with an expert who uses and applies the course concepts.

Target audience

This workshop is intended for developers and business analysts who wish to learn the techniques of domain-driven software design in order to apply them to their projects.
